Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Gavin Harper ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use this website and my apps, available on both iOS and Android. We want to be straightforward about what data we collect and why, written in plain English rather than legalese.

By using this website and any of our apps, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

1. What information we collect

Account information

When you create a Suppd account, we collect your email address and display name. This is handled through Firebase Authentication (provided by Google). We do not store passwords. Authentication is managed entirely by Firebase.

Content you create

Suppd stores the content you create in the app in Firebase Firestore. This includes:

• Recipes you import or create, including titles, ingredients, steps, images, and tags
• Your meal plans, which recipes you've scheduled and when
• Family group data, group names, join codes, and member roles (admin or member)

This content is associated with your account and is used solely to provide the app's functionality.

Usage data

We use Firebase Analytics to collect standard, anonymised usage data — things like which screens are opened most often or how long sessions last. This helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it. Firebase Analytics does not build advertising profiles, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

2. How we use your information

We use your information only to provide and improve Suppd. Specifically:

• To authenticate your account and keep it secure
• To store and sync your recipes, meal plans, and family group data across your devices
• To structure recipe content imported from URLs (see Section 4)
• To understand how the app is used in aggregate so we can make it better

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy.

3. Family groups

Suppd allows you to create or join a family group. When you create a group, a join code is generated that others can use to join. Members of the same group can see the shared meal plan and recipe library.

Each member has a role — Owner, Planner or Viewer. Owners can manage group membership. No personal payment or contact information is shared between group members.

If you share a join code with someone, you are intentionally inviting them to view your shared plan. Keep join codes private to people you trust.

4. Recipe import and AI features

Third-party recipe scraping

When you import a recipe from a social media platform (such as an Instagram post), we pass the URL to a third-party parsing service. This is done server-side. We send only the URL you provide, no personal information about you is shared with this service.

Google Gemini API

We use the Google Gemini API to help structure recipe content. For example, to extract and format ingredients and steps from unstructured text. When you import a recipe, the content of that recipe (not any personal data) is sent to the Gemini API for processing. This is used only to improve recipe structure within your library.

Google's use of data through the Gemini API is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Payments

Any in-app purchases or subscriptions in Suppd are processed entirely by the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). We do not receive, store, or process any raw payment card data. Transaction receipts are verified server-side to confirm purchase status, but no financial details are stored by us.

7. Data retention and account deletion

Your data is retained for as long as you have an active Suppd account. If you delete your account, your personal information and all app content (recipes, meal plans, family group data) will be permanently deleted from our systems, typically within 30 days.

To delete your account, go to the Account tab in the app and select "Delete account". If you need help, contact support.

8. Data security

Your data is stored in Firebase, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We use Firebase security rules to ensure users can only access their own data and data from groups they belong to. We do not share login credentials or allow cross-account data access.

No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

9. Children's privacy

Suppd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app. Your continued use of Suppd after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
